911DA Story: Story
I was in AP US History and we were learning about early American History when our Principal came over the intercom and announced that palnes had hit the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. Manassas is not that far from DC and the Pentagon and I have family that worked at the Pentagon and thankfully my family members who worked there were not there that day. I remember thinking that it couldn't be that bad because i had not seen any pictures or news programs while I was in school so I had no idea how bad things really were. I remember getting home and turning on the tv and almost every station was showing pictures of the World Trade Centers and the gapping hole in the Pentagon. I went to work after school and I work at a daycare center and we were on lockdown, no one could go outside it was such an erie feeling. We have parents who work at the Pentagon and the kids really had no idea about what was going on with their parents. Thankfully we had no parents lost in the Pentagon attack. I remember the next day at work the kids were drawing pictures and one child had drwan the Twin Towers with smoke rising from them and people umping out. It made me feel so sad that these kids had to go through this because they are so young and some of the kids asked me why people hated us and why would they want to fly airplanes into our buildings, I couldn't really answer them because I really didn't know myself why they would do that. The attacks are the Pearl Harbor of our generation and we ahve to cope with this just as our grandparents did.
