NMAH Story: Story
I witnessed history on September 11th via the media, phone calls to a family member in the District of Columbia that day, and communication with friends from various places around the country.
NMAH Story: Life Changed
My life has changed greatly since September 11, 2001. I no longer take my freedoms for granted, and make sure that others do not as well. I take greater pride in every thing our country stands for, the good, and consequentally, the bad. I find no shame in wearing a red, white, & blue pin on various attire daily, or pausing in reflection everytime I hear a patriotic song played. And more than anything else, since September 11th, I've found myself with a resolve to serve my nation when I come of age, whether it be in the government workforce, the local rescue squad, or as I hope to be, a United States Servicewoman.
NMAH Story: Remembered
I think that each individual involved on that day should be remembered for who they were in life, most importantly, and who they are in retrospect. I think it's important to remember the coming together of a nation, and of a world, as it will make our international quests for peace seem like a worthy endeavour, no matter the obstacle, for many centuries and generations to come.
NMAH Story: Flag
I did fly an American flag after the events of September 11th, and continue to do so today. I find renewed spirit within that flag, and feel now more than ever, that it is a part of me. The flag stands for many things, above all our freedom and the unity and hope that binds us together as a people.
