911DA Story: Story

I had just gotten out of the subway station on Fulton Street 5 minutes after Tower 1 had been struck. I started walking towards Maiden Lane which is about 2 blocks down from WTC. I kept trying to dial on my cell with no luck. I decided to stop at the Federal Reserve Building and ask someone what had happened when no more than 5 minutes later Tower 2 was hit. The sound was like nothing I had ever heard before. It was the most terrifying thing I had ever seen. I don't remember hearing the plane coming in, but I will never forget the sound of that impact. I don't remember how I got to my building which is 2 blocks down from where I was standing, I just remember walking into my office and asking someone what had happened, that's when the realization hit me that we were getting attacked. I don't remember very much about that day, things are coming back to me almost 2 years later that still make me sad. Mostly, I think about all those people who lost their lives that morning and pray they are at peace. I still walk by there and it seems like it happened yesterday. You never forget that feeling.
