911DA Story: Story

i think im like alot of americans. i had just woken up at 10am and was on my way to the local gas station. i turned on the radio and heard a reporter saying they were evacuating our state capital. the reporter sounded scared. when i got to the gas station i asked the clerk what was going on, and she told me. i went home right after that and turned on the tv.
i cried for days. i still cry. today hurts. im way over here in minnesota and its far away, but you see..this is my country. im free to go where i want to go. if i want to go to live in ny i can do that. it was like they tore my heart out.
i dont know if that sounds normal or not. i have so many feelings.
i dont live my life in fear. i have children to raise. places to go to.
but the images hang in my mind..and my tears still come easy.
i love my country. i may not agree with everything our government does, but im free to express that.
i love that we have freedom.
we're still standing though. they didnt topple us. it made us more united.
we all get caught up in our own lives..in the day to day. but thats because we have the freedom to have a day to day.
i know that if i ever need help, if anything ever happened, i can count on my neighbors. after sept 11, I KNOW i can count on my neighbors for the things that are really important.
i dont know if i made sense...but thats what i feel like.
