911DA Story: Story

I woke up to a beautiful morning in Houston Texas on September 11, 2001. I was in Houston on buisness and had been for almost two months. That morning I had the television on while I was getting ready to go to the office. I was listening closely to a disucussion/interview on the return of Michael Jordan to Pro-Basketball when the news broke. I walked slowly to the television, not expecting to see what I would. I slowly sat down on the bed with my eyes transfixed on the television. My initial thought was "How did this happen? Pilots that are in trouble are surely trained to bring their planes down in a manner that will not put anyone else in danger." I picked up the phone and called a coworker and asked her to turn on the television. We watched together as the second plane crashed into the tower. Then reality set in.....This is no accident! I called friends and family back home in Tennessee and South Carolina just to make sure they were seeing and hearing the same things I was. I walked out onto the balcony of my 22nd floor hotel room and looked across the horizon. In that moment, in the midst of a swirling mix of emotions, God brought peace to my soul. And all I could do was sing "Great Is Thy Faithfulness." God not only showed me his faithfulness in that moment, but in many other moments throughout the weeks to come. He was faithful in the hearts of so many that gave time, money, blood, supplies, even lives to help other Americans. May God continue to bless America!
