My husband and I had our first child, Kayla on September 7, 2001. The 11th of September was just two days after I returned home from the hospital with her. My husband Eric is in the National Guard, Military Police. Never in a million years did we expect something to happen. However at about 9:30 on the 11th I called him at work and asked him if he would have to leave. At 1:00 that afternoon while I was on the way to the doctor with my mother and our daughter for her 1 week check up, he called to say goodbye and that he didn't know when he would be home. He was gone for 3 weeks. He came home for 1 month and left again for 4 weeks. I will never forget the horror I felt that morning. A new mother, and my husband in a place that nobody knew if it was safe or not. Not only that, I grew up on Long Island and had friends that worked in NYC. One of my friends lost his father, an old music student of mine lost her father and my father lost patients from his Chiropractic business. God does work in mysterious ways though. You see, my daughter was 2 weeks early. Had she been on time, my husband would have been gone and my mother would not have been able to come up to Buffalo because she lived on Long Island and she would have been stuck there. Praise God for that and for the wonderful President that we have running our country now and getting us through these times!!
