911DA Story: Story
The morning of September 11th was going to be a fun day,I thought. I sent my 6 year old at the time off to school, kissing her and saying Ill see you in a little bit.
The 1st&2nd graders had planned a field trip,to the apple orchards in Southern Illinois. As I was getting me and my 1 year old ready I turned on the t.v to find some cartoon's. At the time the news caught my eye and I just started to watch and was in awe of what I seen, I continued to watch and called my mother in law and my best friend to turn on the t.v. 2 minutes later as I was watching I remember hearing Charlie Gibson saying how unfortunate etc etc and, as he said that, the 2nd plane hit the 2nd tower and in amazement I thought I was dreaming, And that time then hearing Charlie Gibson saying we can all assume that this is an act of terrorism.
I hurried and finished getting ready and called my husband at work and let him know what was going on, he already heard and they were watching it on t.v. I rushed to the school- and waited for my daughter to give her a hug. And we went to the apple orchards walking and talking in a daze saying to my self" I cannot believe we are under attack" At the time all air traffic had been cancelled and to see a plane fly was scary. I was able to spend the day with my 2 girls, and I just didnt realize the intensity until I came home and watched the news for the rest of the day. We live in a very small town in Southern Illnois and the impact we had on the attacks affected us deeply, I can not imagine how it was for the ppl in New York, Pentagon, Pennsylvania.
I woke up this morning a year later, again sending off my daughter to school,kissing her & telling her Ill see you in a little bit. Instead of a field trip, I went and met her at the front of the school by the flag pole for our the 9-11 memorial.
My heart is breaking, the tears are falling and my thoughts are with the victoms of 9-11 God Bless America!!!!!!!!!!!!!
