NMAH Story: Story

I was at work in my home town of Tupelo, Mississippi when my husband, Ken, called and ask if we were listening to the radio. He said that a plane had hit one of the towers of the World Trade Center in New York. We turned the radio on thinking that some horrible accident had just occurred. Just a few minutes later the report came in that another plane had hit the second tower, then the pentagon. At that moment the situation took on a whole new meaning. It want from "Oh, no how terrible, those poor people!" to "OH, MY DEAR GOD, NO!!" All work ceased! No one could even think of work. We were all fixed on the words and sounds coming from the radio & the internet. Not long after the full impact of what was occurring began to sink in I called our office in New York, which is at the opposite end of Manhatten. Speaking with fellow coworkers there seemed to pull us more into the terror. I could here the fear in their voices. We keep in touch by phone until the line want down. Then one of the girls from the NY office emailed (email stayed up a little longer than the phone lines) me asking if I could please keep trying to get her mother by phone, since she hadn't been able to reach her. She ask that I let her know that she was safe and at work and would remain there until they figured out where to go. I was able to get through to her mother, who was in a different state. The last email I got though to NY that day was to let her know that I had spoken with her mother. Calling her mother, was a very small task, but at lease I felt like I was doing something. I felt so helpless, I wanted to do something. But what could I do. The only thing that I could do that day was pray. Pray for God to comfort and strengthen those closely involved in this terror. I had never had endure what the people in NY and Washington DC were going though that day, but I did know that God be their source of strength that day. The Lord had proved to me over and over that He could be my comfort and I knew that He was still big enought to see us all thought what ever might come.

NMAH Story: Life Changed

I believe to some degree. I'm more apprehensive. Today as I write this, on Sept. 11, 2002 our world is once again on alert; watching, waiting & worrying about yet another attack on our peace. I'm in my mid 30's. I've never been faced with this type of fear, its new to my world. It was just something that I've read about in history books and seen in the movies. Its never touched my world before and its now getting way to close for comfort.

NMAH Story: Remembered

America was build on Godly principles and Sept. 11th caused America to once again turn to God. We must continue to make steps back to being One Nation, Under God! If we take the tragedy of Sept. 11th and use it as our conerstone for rebuilding an even stronger America in the image that our founding father envisioned; then we can truly say that we are ONE NATION, UNITED, UNDER GOD...

NMAH Story: Flag

YES! I value it even more. I feel more of a unity among Americans. That I pray continues and grows to make us truly ONE. I'm proud to be an American! I thank God for America! God Bless America!
