NMAH Story: Story

I was sitting at work in a small coastal town in North Carolina with my friend and suddenly we heard on the radio "whoa, a plane has crashed into the World Trade Center" and for hours after that it continued. "Another plane." And "smoke from the Pentagon, or maybe the White House". "Noone is sure what is happening" My friend was in the Marine Reserves. Is this "Armageddon"? My husband meanwhile had been surfing in the ocean and calls me asking, "what the heck is going on??" and how can I answer? All I can think about is the picture I took 10 years ago on my parents 110 camera of two towers that were so tall they almost TOUCHED each other when you looked from the ground up. How do you tell someone that those towers and all the tourists and workers and cleaners and bankers and breathing beings are just gone...and all you have is that picture of the blue sky and towers that stunned a 10 year old amateur photographer into believing in something greater.
