NMAH Story: Story
I awoke to a ringing phone. It was early, and I didn't want to answer it. I heard the answering machine kick on. A friend of mine said, "A plane just crashed into the World Trade Center. Wake up and turn on the TV!" I turned the TV on and saw the top of the first tower on fire. Just as what I was seeing registered, the second plane swooped into the picture and crashed into the second tower. I knew then it was no accident. We were being attacked. We were at war.
NMAH Story: Life Changed
If anything, I am more aware of my surroundings and those around me. I pay attention to faces.
NMAH Story: Remembered
We should remember the fallen. We should remember the brave souls who went up in a building that was falling down. We should remember the families who lost loved ones. Most of all, we should remember the ones who kept it from happening one more time on that dark day. "Let's roll!"
NMAH Story: Flag
I fly a flag daily and have a red, white and blue ribbon on my car antenna. Our local newspaper added a flag insert right after 9-11. I posted that up in my cubby at work, where it still resides even though it's turning yellow with age. That flag represents everything we stand for, believe in and live for as Americans. It is a symbol of strength and resolve.
