NMAH Story: Story
I witnessed the September 11, 2002 Tragedy via radio enroute to a business meeting in Downtown Chicago. The first Air Craft had exploded in the World Trade Tower and few details were available. Approximately thirty minutes later, I arrived at the Aon Building and witnessed the second crash via television monitor. The buidling was evacuated. I immediately phoned my Husband, Mother, Daughter and Uncle to pray and share thoughts about our grief. As I walked toward Michigan Avenue, I was moved by the kind words expresssed by our citizens and offers to share cell phones with complete strangers. During those early moments, I saw our nation come together in a very special way.
NMAH Story: Life Changed
My life has been enhanced in several ways: deeper faith in God, taking more time for family and friends and a detrmination to keep going.
NMAH Story: Remembered
The beautiful faces and lives of those who gave their lives for others, those who sustained injuries and the many people around the world who supported our recovery as a nation.
NMAH Story: Flag
I we did not have a large American Flag at the time. I purchased a stone Cross and placed it on my front porch. It remains there as a remembrance and source of strength. Our Community Association placed small flags near the driveways of each home.
