NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I witnessed the September 11, 2002 Tragedy via radio enroute to a business meeting in Downtown Chicago. The first Air Craft had exploded in the World Trade Tower and few details were available. Approximately thirty minutes later, I arrived at the Aon Building and witnessed the second crash via television monitor. The buidling was evacuated. I immediately phoned my Husband, Mother, Daughter and Uncle to pray and share thoughts about our grief. As I walked toward Michigan Avenue, I was moved by the kind words expresssed by our citizens and offers to share cell phones with complete strangers. During those early moments, I saw our nation come together in a very special way. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. My life has been enhanced in several ways: deeper faith in God, taking more time for family and friends and a detrmination to keep going. The beautiful faces and lives of those who gave their lives for others, those who sustained injuries and the many people around the world who supported our recovery as a nation. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? I we did not have a large American Flag at the time. I purchased a stone Cross and placed it on my front porch. It remains there as a remembrance and source of strength.
