911DA Story: Story

On Septmeber 11, 2001, I, like most of my classmates, was in complete shock that such events could ever happen in the United States. I don't believe any of us really understood the full and lasting effect that would take place in our country. I can remeber all of the rumors that spread around school that day: the White House was on fire, planes were being shot down, etc., and I am not able to even express the fear and anxiety that came with those rumors. Students parents were coming to the school to bring them home, but others couldn't even get in touch with their own. Basically, we all felt shocked. In fact, it is hard to attach a word, or even a paragraph, to such an event. All I can hope is that people will never forget this tragedy. I made that commitment to myself when I visited the World Trade Center site late in the fall. And to think that some group of people felt (what they thought was) a legitimate reason to murder thousands of people--in the name of God, of all things is absolutly crazy.
