Description
Eleven Days after the attacks, college football resumed. Texas A&M was scheduled to play Oklahoma St. in an early-season face-off. But football wasn't on anyone's mind that day... On the evening of 9/11, on an internet discussion forum (Texags.com), the idea of a "Red, White, and Blue -out" effort was born. In those 11 days five students managed to print and sell (at $5 each) 80,000+ t-shirts, and depending on where you sat in the stadium for the game, determined what color you wore. They managed to do the impossible, and the result was stunning. The money they raised, went to several funds that had been established in New York. The five students were flown to New York shortly after this game (by an generous alumni cub), to deliver a check for $180,000. Another check will be sent in the next few months, representing shirts and posters that have been sold throughout the past year.
