Artist: Anthony Martinez Painting Title: Ascending Date: September 2001 Medium: oil on canvas and 5% acrylic Signature: Signed This is a very special painting done in memory of all those who risked there lives in the line of duty on September 11, 2001 including the port authority dog named Syris who was lost when the towers came down.There is a poem in the painting that reads. In mind body and soul we protect and defend. We resue and we save. Our lives are dedicated to the love of it all. United we stand. United we ascend. The Lord awaits us as we approach the gates of heaven. Where love and peace remains for all eternity. by: Anthony Martinez This painting has been in many memorials of the lost heroes. It was in battery park on March 11 for the 6 month anniversary of the tragedy and it has gone from fire house to police station in new york to many other places. This painting was in ground zero. Was interviewed by channel 7 and came out in the 5 and 11 o'clock news in March of 2002. Was interviewed by Spanish channels 41 and 47 and was featured at 5 and 11 o'clock news in both channels. Was interviewed and photographed by the New York Times newspaper. Was interviewed and photographed by Spanish newspaper Hoy and El Vocero and articles were featured. This painting was part of the ground zero memorial on may 30,2002. this painting has been signed in the back by NYPD officers FDNY fire fighters, PAPD officers, construction workers,EMT workers and even a chaplain and a survivor from the disaster.
