911DA Story: Story
I was walking to class and a friend ran up to me saying "did you hear what happened??? some planes crashed into the world trade center!!!".
I seriously believed it to be some twisted joke, until I walked into class and saw that the TV was tuned into the news. The news broadcaster repeated what was just spoken to me (in more detailed terms). I sank down into my seat and began thinking of all the people who were dying at that moment. The lives that will be lost thereafter. The effect that such an event will have on our nation.
The news channel kept repeating the scene over and over on the television. Then announced the crash which had taken place in PA. I felt my stomach drop and could no longer bear to watch it. The loss of life caused by such a violent act brought tears to my eyes and a deep saddness to my soul. I couldn't understand the reasonings behind such a vicious act.
I think many people felt the same way that I did at that moment. Confusion, fear, sadness, helplessness and an odd sense of unity. Every one in the country felt similar emotions and every person (in their own way) prayed for the families of those effected by such a tragedy. It was a horrible time, but the country united and showed that through chaos- we can become one.
