911DA Story: Story

Being hundreds of miles away from the terror didn't keep it from permeating into the small towns of the south. I was, and still currently, a student at Stephen F. Austin State University. On September 11, 2001, I was in my apartment getting ready for class. I had Good morning America on, which I usually do, and was listening to it from my bathroom. A few key phrases caught my attention..."a airplane has hit the world trade center." My attention turned from the daily task of getting ready to my television. There it was, right in front of my eyes. I watched the rest of the day, watching in disbelief. I remember watching the footage of the towers collapsing over and over, and every time feeling the chills run up and down my arms. I know for the first time in my life I hurt deeply inside for those lost, and their families. Its hard to know exactly the pain of those involved, but 911 hurt most everyone in a unique way. That pain is different to us all. My deepest sympathies go to the families.
