Hi committee,
x and I will talk soon about a city resolution. Can you
remind me what other alders we're approaching on this?
Also, does someone have x's home number? I'd like to call
Sunday night if I turn up anything interesting over the weekend, and see how
the arrangements are going for the visit to Feingold's on Monday.
Thanks.
x

Dear Ms. x:
I am writing as a constituent and member of the newly-formed
Madison Area Peace Coalition (http://www.madpeace.org). We are a citizen
coalition of over thirty member organizations, representing over 5000 people
in the Madison area. Madison Area Peace Coalition (MAPC) supports a
non-violent response to the attacks of 9/11. Specifically, we advocate:
(1) Peace and Justice, not War and Revenge
(2) Protecting our Civil Liberties, and
(3) Unity and Protection of Arab-Americans and Others in the wake of the
attacks.
I am writing to request your assistance in introducing a
resolution to the Common Council endorsing some portion of our position.
I would look forward to discussing with you the wording that
might be acceptable. My initial thought is to draft a statement such as:
"The city of Madison urges immediate action on the developing humanitarian
crisis as the priority of the U.S. government in Afghanistan."
I will try phoning you in the evening or this weekend to discuss
this issue with you.
Sincerely,
x
