How has your life changed because of what happened on September 11, 2001?

I had an interview with Kenneth Hayhurst, who at the time of the attack was working at a hospital. He said it did not really affect his life because he was not near the place of which the attacks took place. Although for a while, he did often worry if the attacks would happen again but somewhere closer. Kenneth did make a statement that when that happened it did change the way he viewed people. He said “he can’t believe that people could be that humane and disrespectful to take their own lives and the lives of others and use the subject of religion to do it.” That was the only thing for him that had changed do to the attack.

How will you remember the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks?

On the day of the attack Kenneth Hayhurst was working. He said another engineer that he was working with informed him that the first twin tower was hit by a plane. He believed at the time it was just an accident. He decided that he would then go take a coffee break and go turn on the news and see what was going on. Not even two minutes later, after turning the news on the second airplane hit the other twin tower. He told me that people in the break room started to panic, while others were shocked and starting to cry in disbelief. He was full of mixed emotions because although he didn’t know anyone in the tower, he knew a lot of people had just died or was taking their life jumping out of the building. He wouldn’t have changed anything he done that morning because it wouldn’t have saved the lives of anyone that died. The attack changed the life for many but he was glad his family and friends, he knew were safe as well.
