How will you remember the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks?
This poem captures the way that people would have felt, and hopefully will provide a way that people can remember the tragic day.
Crushed beneath the rubble
But never letting go
Underneath the broken rock
Time is moving slow
Couldn't see the light of day
My time is running out
But then a tunnel to the world
Stole away my doubt
Firefighters did their job
And slowly I was freed
With broken bones and crushed limbs
My only injuries
Crushed beneath the rubble
My life was slowly saved
Thanks to paramedics
I live another day
Crushed beneath the rubble
But never letting go
Underneath the broken rock
Time is moving slow
Couldn't see the light of day
My time is running out
But then a tunnel to the world
Stole away my doubt
Firefighters did their job
And slowly I was freed
With broken bones and crushed limbs
My only injuries
Crushed beneath the rubble
My life was slowly saved
Thanks to paramedics
I live another day
