911DA Story: Story
On September 11th, 2001, I was sitting in my classroom waiting for the bell to let us out of school. From there, I hitched a ride to a friends house, where we were going to proceed to have band practice. As soon as I walked in the door, I heard panic and screams coming from the TV. I leaned my head over to see what the commotion was all about and saw that a plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Center Towers in New York City. Needless to say, I was far beyond shocked. I couldn't believe that someone would do something like that! I waited, fixated on the screen, to see what effect this would have on the building as a whole. Then, out of nowhere, a second plane hit the second tower! I found myself speechless staring at the blazing infernoes coming from the two towers. At this moment, I knew that the best place for me to be at the moment was not at my friend's house, but with my family. So I hopped on my skateboard and high-tailed it to my house. When I reached there, my mother said she had some bad news. She told me that the first tower had just collapsed. And just moments later, I watched the second tower collapse in front of my eyes on the TV. After this happened, I don't remember much about what happened the rest of the day. I believe that I mostly spent the day watching the news, and reflecting on the terrible events that had taken place during the day.
