911DA Story: Story

On the day of September 11th, 2001, I was in the middle of a two-week long vacation with my boyfriend in Europe. We had just gotten to our hotel in Rome when the receptionist asked if there were any Americans in the lobby. There were several of us in the group, including three from New York. We were told that a plane had just crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City. We all continued to watch closely as the scene unfolded, but unfortunately, the news channel was being dubbed over in Italian, and we weren't able to completely understand what had happened. We could only watch in horror as another plane struck the side of the World Trade Center. My boyfriend and I called home to our families to find out if everyone was okay, and to see if we could find out what was happening to our country. We were terrified, being thousands of miles away in a foreign country. We were very anxious to get home to the United States after 9/11, and we are both thankful we were able to return to our families and friends.
