911DA Story: Story
At 6:30 am I was wheeled into the operating room at UIC Hospital, chicago. My surgery was major and was expected to take up to 18 hours. As an airline employee, little did I know that while surgeons were saving my life many of my fellow co-workers were losing there's. My family's concern for me went to concern for others and through out the course of the day as they watched tv. They became grateful that I was in a operating room and not working at the airport. When surgery was finally over, the surgeon sought out my wife to tell her what a success surgery was, as he was explaining to her, he glanced over at the television, with shock he said, "What happened today." No one in the operating room, had known about the day's events. When I was moved to ICU, my wife and children came in, there was a TV on. My wife knew that if I heard the news that I may think I was in a coma for 10 years. She explained to the nurse that I work for an airline and the news needed to be broken to me gently. The following morning the nurse gave me the news. I will never know where it came from but, I responded Osma Bin Laden.
I will always rember 9/11 as the day my life was saved and others were not.
I will always rember 9/11 as the day my life was saved and others were not.
