911DA Story: Story

This was just another ordinary Tuesday, complaining about work and all that went with it. I sat at my desk talking to my co-worker when another co-worker said the radio announced that a plane hit the World Trade Center. After trying to find it on the internet we turned on the tv, and we found it. We watched at the second plan hit. After the shock of that started to wear off, the news of the Pentagon came. One of my best friends works in neighboring building of the Pentagon. I was lucky, I was able to get ahold of her. Then the phone started to ring busy everywhere you tried. All local phone service was jammed, some cellphones worked. We were all sent home, not much we could do. When I got home it finally hit and the crying started. The faces of those innocent people started to appear, the thoughts of families destroyed, and the sight of murder. Soon the phones started ringing, everyone could get through. Relatives that we hadn't heard from in years called checking to see if my father was okay, it had been long enough that they didn't know he retired from the government. Suddenly no matter what had happen bad or good, everyone was concerned about everyone. Unlike most people at the age of 25 I knew what it was to be an American, as the daughter, sister, niece and granddaughter of war veterans I knew, and it hurt. All my life I have been taught to honor, respect and love my country. And I do, and I felt so violated that someone could do what they did. I still love my country and always will, and the acts of September 11, 2001 will not change that EVER! The terrorist did the one thing that they didn't not intend do, the gave us true meaning to UNITED States of America.
