911DA Story: Story

I will remember this day for all eternity. I had just started a new job at the Naval Hospital aboard the Camp Pendleton Marine Base as a medical transcriptionist in the Emergency Room. I had trained on the 9th and 10th of September, with the 11th of September being a day off for me. I was alseep in my bed when my roommate and best friend, Mark Jones, came running up the stairs to our apartment yelling my name. He knocked on my bedroom door telling me to turn on the television. I did, and as soon as I saw the towers, I burst into tears. I didn't know what to think of it all, just that I was a combination of all emotions; The only thing I could think of was "Where is the President?" Then I heard about the Pentagon, which frustrated me terribly because I am a United States Marine, serving my country for 10 years. As soon as I gathered my composure a little bit, I called everyone close to me to tell them that I love them. To this very day, I wish I was still in the military, serving my country and doing my part to protect our freedom and guard our coasts, willing to give my life if necessary.
