911DA Story: Story

I called my neighbor, to tell him I had gotten his daughter on
the bus. He said we were being bombed, are you watching t.v.?
I thought he was joking, and I hung up the phone. When I turned
the t.v. on a few minutes later, I saw pictures of the plane
entering the tower, and them falling down. I started to shake,
and called my husband at work. I cried all day, while watching
the coverage. Around one p.m. I went up to Oakville Elementary,
and asked if I could look in the classroom ( my son was in first
grade). I saw him , and I left, carrying my 4 1/2 year old. She
kept asking me what was wrong, and I could not answer. Today I
pay tribute to the people who helped, and mourned for the ones
who did not survive. When Haley came home from 1/2 day kindergarten,
she asked, once again, what was wrong, and I still had no answer.
How do you tell a child the world we live in can change in a heart-beat,
and to cherish what you have now. There are sick animals out there,
lying in wait, ready to pounce on us, because we are proud to be "One Nation,
Under God".
