911DA Story: Story
I remember my alarm went off for me to get ready for work and all I heard was, "As soon as we get more information on the plane that hit the World Trade Center we'll pass it on to you." I had thought that it was just an accident and didn't think anything more of it. I then received a phone call from my mom and she asked me if I heard the news. I asked her what she was talking about and she had informed me that both towers were hit by planes and that the Pentagon was also hit. The first thing I thought about was my husband. He had just joined the military in April 2001 and he was still away in Ft. Benning, Ga. finishing up his Airborne school. I was worried that something was going to happen to him. I went to work and then when I got home that night, I had a phone call from a friend of mine. He had told me that he wanted to talk to me and of course I assumed the worst of the situation. I called him back and he had told me that he was supposed to be on the plane that hit the first tower and that the pilot of that plane was his next door neighbor. I know it doesn't compare to losing someone during the attacks, but when you know someone that could have been involved, it hits close to home just as well. To those who lost a loved one or friend in this terrible tragedy, I pray that God will continue to bless you and your families during this difficult time. God Bless America! **9-11-01**
