911DA Story: Story

I will always remember Sept. 11th.
I remember being asleep when something woke me up, I couldn't tell you what it was. I just remeber waking from a deep dream and getting out of bed. I walked out of my bedroom to the living room just in time to see the second plane crash into the Twin Towers. I looked at my mom and asked her what she was watching, thinking it was a movie. She told me that her boss had just called and told her to turn the tv on. Thats when we both heard from the Today show (it just happened to be was what was on) that it was a reality. All that I could think of was "Oh, my God". There was so much confusion. Then before I could get a grip on things, the news of the Pentagon came on to the screen. Thats when I lost it and the tears came.
The only other clear memory I have from that day is that when we heard about the last flight and how the passengers overtook the terrorist, I cheered. I was so proud of them.
Of course I'm proud of every person that lost their life that day....because I know in my heart that they all tried to help. Even with those three planes, I know that no person on them went down without a fight. It's just not our way.
I have to say that I have never been more proud to live in this country than I have in this last year. We have stood up and let everyone know that we may be pushed down and we might stumble, but we will always rise again.
