911DA Story: Story

I was in school when my science teacher announced what had happened. No one really reacted to it. It was too far out to grab and put in our reality. Throughout the day most students and staff found out what happened. People were crying, hugging, so unsure of what to do. Many people in the school including myself have family that live in Manhattan. The phone lines were jammed to Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. We couldn't get through to our family, no one could. I had found out that my cousin was working across the street at the moment the first tower collapsed. She fled for safety and only some debris fell on her. My other cousin's school was evacuated; it was mass chaos everywhere.
This day will be forever burned in my brain..so many people died..so many people lost ones that they loved. The fact that some people in the world would do such an awful and destructive thing scares me.
There were so many programs on tv that kept on replaying the collapse of the towers. There are still so many radio shows that talk about this event and tv specials on what "really" happened. Ofcourse we should all remember this day in history; in honor of the ones we love and lost. However, it hurts to remember that day. My eyes fill up with tears and i feel such a patriotic feeling towards my country. I went to sleep last night wondering if i would be typing this right now. I am so filled with worry. But then I remember we all have eachother.
