911DA Story: Story

I awoke the morning of September 11, 2001 about 9am to get myself motivated for a business luncheon that was scheduled at 11am. I turned on the television with the intention of checking the weather channel since the local weather can be very unpredictable this time of year. The TV was tuned to either CNN (or MSNBC)and the first image I saw was an airplane hitting one of the towers. I couldn't move. All I could do was stare, in disbelief, of what I was witnessing.

I am originally from New York. I grew up less than an hour's drive north of Manhattan in an area which lends itself to a fairly easy commute. When the reality of the situation finally overcame the initial shock, I began to think of family members and friends that were either working in the World Trade Center or working as Rescue workers(ie: police, fire or ambulance).

My first cousin was working for a bank in the WTC at the time. She, by the Grace of God, was running late for work that day and was still on the subway when the first plane hit.

I'm sorry to say I did lose a high school friend. She left behind a husband and 3 children.

There is NOT a single soul in this nation that has not been touched by the atrocities of September 11, 2001. I know, we as a nation, will never forget.
