911DA Story: Story

I was at home. I had called in sick that day and I was in my basement office checking my e mail. My wife called and told me to turn on the TV. She told me that they were flying air planes into the WWTC. I got the TV on just in time to see the first building fall.

I have had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for a long time. With a lot of help I had learned how to keep the symptoms under control and had lived a somewhat normal life. As the building fell all of my defenses fell with it. The symptoms suddenly all came back and have forced me to be on disabilty.

Strangly my thoughts were for the fire fighters and rescue workers. I had been there doing rescue work at bad car wrecks and in the aftermath of tornados. To know only partially what they were going through seemed to intensify the effect.

My heart still goes out to them, and I raise my glass to thier bravery. May those who perished rest in peace and those who survived live in peace.
