I worked nights in Marietta, GA at that time. I remember leaving work around five that morning and the big story at that point was whether Michael Jordan would come out of retirement and return to the NBA. Little did I know how starkly things would change in only a few hours. I did not sleep well that morning and I awoke around 9:30 am. I switched on the clock radio and turned the volume down low to lull myself back to sleep. I began hearing phrases such as "...200 foot gash in the front of the Pentagon" and "...Both World Trade Center towers have collapsed". I could not believe my ears. I went to turn the TV on. Words cannot describe the spectacularly horrific event I witnessed.
