NMAH Story: Story
On September 11th, I witnessed what is probably one the most disastrous events that my generation will ever see. In the morning I waited for my ride to show up, to me it was just like any other day. I knew not of the horrific acts that had taken place 3 hours before in New York City. My ride arrived and I got into the car. After a few seconds of silence the lady that was giving me a ride asked, "Have you heard?" I told her that I hadn't and she told me. I was shocked. When I arrived at school, I immediately headed to the library as usual. There was a room in the back where students were watching the news, and they played the horrible scene over and over again. Many around me were crying, and soon enough I too was crying. I never believed that anything so terrifying could occur in my lifetime. I went home early, and spent the day watching the footage as random news channels replayed it. I will never forget that day.
NMAH Story: Life Changed
September 11th has truly changed my life. I don't take things for granted, because now I see that one day your life can revolve around the newest trends, scandals, or Pop Culture, and the next everything is taken away, you are faced with a reality that Pop Culture sometimes fades for you.
NMAH Story: Remembered
I think that we should remember the heroism of the people on the planes, in the Towers, and on the ground. We should remember those who died as well as those who survived, those who helped as well as those who watched, those who fought as well as those who prayed. We should remember the patriotism and unity that came out of it. Most of all, we should remember the sacrifice that was made in order to unite us, to make us see. And, last but certainly not least, we must now remember not to take our lives for granted, we must look up, love, laugh and live.
NMAH Story: Flag
No, I did not fly the flag after 9/11. I don't see how that could make anything better. My feelings about the flag have slightly changed, only in the idea that it is over rated. All the flags in our town sold out, you couldn't buy them anywhere. I'm not bashing the flag, but it was a waste. The money that people spent could've gone to the Red Cross for aid in the rescue effort. And, a flag flying above a house did not make the residents better people. Neighbors still ignored each other and snubbed each other.
