I live on the west coast and was just waking up,sleepily,slowly, when I saw smoke and fire coming from one of the towers. The television had been on all night. I couldn't quite make out what was happening. Was it a movie? An accident? What was happening? I tried to open my eyes and ears wider, trying to discern the moment. Immediately I saw the second plane coming toward the second tower,and,like a huge blast to the stomach, crash almost completely through it. Shocked. I knew we, these United States, were under attack. How many more planes would hit? Voices on the tv said another plane was heading toward the pentagon.

I've been depressed and sad. I know things won't be the same for a very long time. The world is at war. Anger, hatred, fear, and shock fill the air.

Every cloud has it's silver lining. The world will be built on a new foundation of understanding and love, someday soon.
