NMAH Story: Story

The Lessons of September 11th

On that fateful September morning,
Many lives were changed forever
With the crash on the Pentagon,
In Pennsylvania, and at the World Trade Center

We cried out in anger
And wept in our grief,
We watched scenes of horror
That cut to the deep

Though many cried,
Where was God in all this!
But He saw all that happened,
God was there in our midst

He was saddened by the
Death and destruction caused
And He knows of the
Loved ones weve lost

But theres other reasons why all this has happened
There are many things He wants us to learn
See, love and compassion and unity
Are some things we have seen in return.

Respect for our God-given freedom
Is another thing we also must value,
We often overlook the price that was paid
By many men and women, just so you could live today.

We must remember that freedom was something
That Washington and his men wouldnt sacrifice.
In signing that Declaration of Independence
It was for freedom that they would give their very lives

From the trenches of Europe to the jungles of the Pacific,
Through the death and destruction and tears
People have fought for their freedom and country
They gave their lives for what they held very dear

Ever since September 11th,
Our lives have never been the same,
People have lost loved ones buried under the rubble
And others may lie unnamed

From all that has happened
Through the tragedy of all this,
We know love, compassion, unity
And our God-given freedom are priceless.
