On September 11th I witnessed something I've never witnessed before. I saw a nation come together as one and share an experience that will never be forgotten. It is the first time I felt united to my country and the first time I was really proud to be an American. I can remember the feeling of when I first saw the horrific images of the World Trade Center on September 11th. Thoughts of hate and war were racing through my mind when I realized what was actually happening. I could see the cloud of smoke from my friends balcony and each glare I took a tear fell from my eyes. Now when I see something that reminds me of that day I still get a little teary eyed but not all of it is tears of sorrow. Our nation has never been this united and I have never seen so many brave souls and proud Americans helping each other than I did on that day and to me that is the history of September 11th.
