NMAH Story: Story
I remember driving on my way to my Tuesday morning Anthropology class and hearing announced on the radio that one of the towers had been hit. The irony for me is that the class I was on my way to was "Death, Burial, and Culture." When I arrived everyone in the building was huddled around a small television watching coverage. Our professor cancelled our class so we all could go out and support one another while watching the coverage. I remember the shock I felt watching the second plane hit, and still have trouble watching that image without getting sick to my stomach. I have been up in the WTC Observation area and could only imagine the fear felt by people being trapped so high up. Truly a life-changing moment for me.
NMAH Story: Life Changed
I am now a lot more careful about expressing my feelings towards loved ones. I also must admit that I am a bit more leary of folks from the Middle East.
NMAH Story: Remembered
The way that our country came together. I wish it still had that cohesiveness three years later.
NMAH Story: Flag
I did, and did before 9/11 as well. I only feel even more pride in the flag now than I did before 9/11.
