NMAH Story: Story
I woke up with flu-like symptoms on September 11th and stayed home from attending class at my local Community College in Pittsburgh, PA. All I wanted to do that morning was sleep, so when my sister called me crying saying that they crashed into the Twin Towers, I turned on NBC and saw the replays of the first plane hitting the towers, but I still wasn't feeling well, I turned off the TV and went back to bed not fully realizing what was going on. When I woke up to hear the and view the horrible tragedy had happened in my own backyard! In spite of all of the panic, I went to work that evening as everyone else was evacuating the city. The full impact of the events would not hit me for a few days until I got better and realized how bad it was. These events forever changed my life in ways I can't explain.
NMAH Story: Life Changed
I have become more alert to suspisious behavior and events around me and would encourage others to do the same. I also became very grateful for the things I have in life and my family and the need to "slow down" and take a good look at the world around you. Be grateful for the little things, embrace diversity and peace. They are all things we take for granted.
