911DA Story: Story
I had just arrived to start my work out when the woman who lives next door came in to tell us that a plane had just crashed into the World Trade Center. I was surprised because I had worked at the World Trade Center on the 106th floor and couldn't believe a plane had gotten close enough to crash into it. I immediately got in my car and rushed home intime to see on the Today show that a second plane had crashed into the other tower and then I immediately knew it was a terrorist act. I got on the phone and called or should say tried to call all the family members I knew who worked around the area. Try as I might I couldn't get anyone on the phone and started to panic. Luckily, they started to call me to let me know they were OK and trying to get out of the area as soon as possible. The next call I got was from my Mom who now resides in Italy - she was in a panic as well and wanted to make sure we were all OK. I felt such deep pain and sorrow for the people who were lost in those buildings - still to this day it seems so unbelievable, even though my family and I have been to the site of the WTC to see the gapping hole. But through all the pain and sorrow I am glad to have seen New Yorkers come together and help eachother and prove to the world once again that we are a city of love, bravery and strength and we can survive whatever our enemies dish out.
