NMAH Story: Story

I know it'll sound cliche' but 9/11/01 started like anyother day for me. I went to work for my now brother-in-law, watching his twins who were at the time 8 months old. After putting them down for a nap, I was watching a movie on some movie channel, I went to the bathroom and the phone rang I ran to get it thinking "who could possibably be calling at this moment". It was my now husband telling me to turn the news, he never watches the news so it seemed rathar wierd that he was telling me to turn the news. He told me "The World Trade Center has been destroyed and a plane has hit the pentagon" I didn't believe him and he told me to turn on the news. I asked him which station he told me any station. So I found the remote and turned it to my local news station to see before my eyes a single tower on the screen. It was like someone had pulled the veil over the perfect summer day and twisted it into a horrible nightmare. I was in tears thinking about the people that were injured, dead, and trapped. Hoping with all hope that the fire department of New York could do something to stop the fire. I got off the phone after my now husband said that we should keep the lines clear incase of any calls that needed to come in. So we got off the phone, I called my mom and made sure that my cousin's husband was ok since he works a half a mile from the Pentagon at the Paten Office. She said that he was ok and was heading home right a way. I made two other phone calls then just watched the TV perplexed and astounded by what I was watching. Thankfully I was taking care of my niece and nephew that helped take my mind off what was going on. I ended up coming home to my husband and cried in his arms knowing yet still hoping that there were survivors but preparing for the fact that there wasn't going to be any cheers of joy.
