September 11 Email: Body

Hey Everybody!

A recent friend of mine asked me to write down a little thought I say (or perhaps a little saying I think?), and I suggested I e-mail it to her instead. Well, that was two days before 9-11 and, upon finally putting this thought to cyber-pen, it has struck me as perhaps being even profound. So, through the power of cut and paste and the magic of mass e-mailing, I am sending this to everybody in my address book. And, if you would, please forward it to all of those in your address book as well.

May it prove to be beneficial.

Most respectfully yours,

- Rick

And for anyones convenience, I can be reached at rdburger@prodigy.net.

Well, a theory formally needs a title, so lets call this one:

Ricks Theory of Prayerful Intervention

When one person prays and finds that his or her prayers have been answered, that is indeed a Miracle.

When two people pray and find their prayers answered, that is an act of Faith. But-

When three or more people pray together, they can expect their prayers being answered as a Given.

In light of the 9-11 attack, may this prove a comforting thought to some. In the face of this unfathomable evil, those of even the deepest resolve may find that they have struck bottom. But, have no fear. As simple as this next remark may sound, there cannot be any good without any evil. Yet the goodness that will follow this act of evil will be of such brilliance that even the darkest of shadows will fade in the light.

No, I do not expect a Miracle, nor is this a statement of Faith-

This, my friends, is a Given.

And in this, I shall be

Most humbly yours,

- Rick

- As an aside to this theory of mine, perhaps another thought process I utilize may also offer some of us hope and relief. Lets call this a postulate upon which my theory is based, okay? (Ooh, I just love math stuff! Dont you?)

Honesty is a sign of strength; knowledge is power, wisdom is understanding. By contrast, deception is a sign of weakness, ignorance is enfeebling, and intolerance is borne of foolishness.

Those who lie, those who let their ignorance goad them into acts of folly, will fail against the honest and forthright. Oh, they may have their moments; they may even win some battles

But they will never win the war.
