Re: 9/11 Fund Screws Gays
To Whom It May Concern,
I just received the following email message from a stranger. I can't put my feelings into words at this time, but I would like to say that if this is indeed true, I am outraged. I personally do not know anyone who died on 9/11 but I feel the loss very deeply nonetheless. I have given everything I can afford to the Red Cross and various other 9-11 relief funds and did so with the expectation that it was going to help EVERYONE associated with and in need from September 11th. This money was given freely and without stipulation or prejudice and it is not right these rules are being placed on it now. If there needs to be a separate fund for families/partners of gays and lesbians than I say you need to start one immediately. Many people are alive today because of the bravery shown by these heros. Being gay or lesbian is not who they are or what they represent, they are Americans first and foremost. The were sons, daughters, partners, sisters, brothers, etc., just like everyone else.
