How could you do this?
I can only hope that I am one of thousands who feel strongly enough to send this to you. It is the obligation and responsibility of the US government, NOT the State government, to manage the allocation of these funds. We are not talking about tax refunds here, why would this ever be managed at a state level? What are you going to do about the hundreds of international citizens affected by this tragedy (not to mention the GAY international citizens)? It sounds like you didn't quite think this through. This is money which should be distributed accordingly to ALL victims' families of 9/11, gay or straight. And if the US government is not prepared to accomodate such a request (due to the various marriage laws around the country), well maybe this is your cue to step in and make some long overdue adjustments to the amount of flexibility (read ignorance) we allow our individual states to display when it comes to recognition of gay rights. Kenneth Feinberg, shame on you. In one interview you managed to show how little you are willing to put yourself on the line on such an important initiative. The American public deserves someone stronger than you.
