Sept. 11 Victim Compensation Fund
Kenneth Zwick, Director
Office of Management Programs
U. S. Department of Justice
Dear Sir,
As I understand, the Justice Deparment will soon be
setting guidelines for deciding who is eligible for
compensation under the "September 11 Victim
Compensation Fund." I would ask that those guidelines
include the life partners of any victims, as well as
children they may have shared with their life
partners, regardless of marital status or sexual
orientation.
As you no doubt know, New York Governor Pataki granted
benefits through the state of New York "on a showing
of mutual interdependence with the victim, in
recognition that anyone who shared with the victim
living expenses, day-to-day activities and the
emotional bonds of family deserves help in this time
of need." I ask that a similar standard be used by
the Justice Department.
Sincerely
Individual Comment
