Shame on you...
It is with utter frustration that I write to express my outrage regarding
the Fund's non-committal stance on equal benefits for gay and lesbian
partners of those who died on September 11. The mere suggestion that
same-sex partners should not be entitled to the same benefits bestowed upon
heterosexual spouses is despicable and ridiculous. What exactly is the
statement intended by this decision? This seems to be just another example
of who exactly the "special" rights belong to in this country.
Instead of pointing to the status quo as an excuse for this deplorable
behavior, why doesn't the government take this opportunity to do the right
thing and take a stand for justice in light of the injustice that got us
here.
