victims compensation
Dear Sir/Madam:
Let me see if I understand this: Most states in the US
do not legally recognize gay/lesbian long-term
relationships and for this reason those gays and
lesbians left without their partner (i.e., spouse)
will not have equal access to the September 11 victims
compensation. In other words, gay and lesbian
partners are penalized due to discrimination by their
respective states. Is this really how we want to
honor such heroes
and
,
both gay men, who responded courageously in the midst
of the tragedy? I urge you on behalf of the integrity
of the United States to give equal access to the gay
and lesbian survivors who lost partners on September
11. Thank you.
