compensation for displaced residents
While many of us did not loose relatives or close friends, we
- are or were, in some cases, displaced from our homes,
- do not know if our level of exposure to toxic agents will eventually be
life threatening,
- need to have every item in our apartment cleaned by an asbestos abatement
company,
- experienced having our entire neighborhood turn into a disaster zone,
- lost 40% of our neighbors due to trauma or death,
- are unable to sleep due to the flood-lights shining on the WTC all night
making our bedroom as bright as day
- are unable to work or if we do go to work, unable to give 100% to our
employers.
- are unable to return right away due to respiratory ailments but unable to
afford a place uptown
- do not have consistent phone service
These are composites of what life in BPC is like now.
