Deduct the Pensions & Benefits

Why shouldn't the firefighter's pensions and benefits be deducted from the federal payout? I mean come on...how much money do they need???...doesn't the NYFD families and NYPD families get an automatic $250,000 payment from the fed? Don't NYFD families get an automatic $10,000 off the bat from the widows & children fund? Not to mention that their families already get the death benefit of 100% salary virtually forever. And that's just for starters. Don't they have all that money that was collected just for their own "brothers" during all that massive fundraising just for themselves. Where did all that money go? I know for a fact that the NY Firefighters 9-11 disaster fund run by the IAFF raised over $90,000,000. That's another $250,000 for each firefighter. And they can still dip in to the Red Cross fund and other funds just like anyone else. That's a much better deal than any private sector victim will get.

You know..for people who like to hold themselves out as being above chasing the almighty dollar for a line of work involving humble service, commitment and sacrifice for others they're doing a pretty good job of sounding like a bunch of whining babies.

You know...people die all the time everyday..people that include other firefighters and police officers....and they won't get a fraction of the support these people have received already. The way the rules of this fund are currently set will at least make some sort of attempt to level the playing field for all the other families who don't enjoy all the money that their families have already received. I wishe the NYFD and other rescuers would stop making themselves out to be so poor. It's time to stop asking what's in it for me and just start being greatful for all the tax dollars they have already received. Tax dollars that if I were to be killed tomorrow by a terrorist my family would see none of.
