Victim's compensation
I hope that what I hear about your intent not to compensate the partners of
gay/lesbian victims of 911 is not correct. It sounds very noble to say "state
law will prevail," but I do believe the federal government is free to
compensate who they want in any way they want. Odd, isn't it, that more and
more these days Republicans are screaming something akin to "states rights".
Baloney. Get your act together. I believe you are right to compensate illegal
aliens who died, as I believe you intend to, so what makes gay and lesbian
deaths so much less important? I suppose red-faced rhetoric, which is where I
am headed, has no place here, so I will conclude by requesting that you
revisit this issue using some kind of common sense and decency. Sincerely, Individual Comment
