Ken Feinberg
U.S. Department of Justice
950 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, D.C. 20530-0001

Dar Mr. Feinberg:

I imagine you have not been getting much sleep since your decision to exclude those who lost a same sex partner in the September 11 terrorist attacks. How can your conscience be at ease knowing that you have blatantly discriminated against a population of individuals? A group of people who are American by anyone's standards, who pay their taxes, support their country and who love another individual for who they are, not for the pronoun assigned to them. How can be hailed as a hero in one breath for his efforts to thwart the attacks, but individuals who lost a gay or lesbian partner are not deemed worthy of equal consideration of compensation? Adding insult to injury, (if that is possible), you chose to extend a helping hand to illegal immigrants, a large problem already in our country.

Am I proud to be an American? If being an American means setting an example that
discrimination is acceptable, that one person is superior to another based on whom they choose to love, that justice is only for those that advance the current political agenda, then NO, I am not proud to be an American. This recent decision not only is appalling, sickening and completely unjust, it is embarrassing and disrespectful to those who understand the true meaning of what being human means.

Sincerely,

Individual Comment
Lake Forest Park, WA
